The Worcester Public Library has two
branches: Frances
Perkins Branch at Greendale and

Opened in 1914, the
former Greendale Branch was renamed
in 1994 to honor Frances Perkins who
grew up in Worcester and was the first
woman cabinet member, serving as Franklin
Delano Roosevelt's Secretary of Labor,
1933-1845.
This busy branch offers
a full range of services to children
and adults. It's collections emphasize
popular materials in all formats.
Internet is available. Materials may
be requested in person, by phone,
or online.
Meeting space is available
in the Perkins Program Room and may
be booked by calling 508-799-1687
or by using the booking form found
on the Library's website. A small
exhibit space may also be booked for
a month at a time by calling the branch.
The Friends of the Worcester
Public Library provide the branch
with pass to the Higgins Armory, Tower
Hill Botanical Garden, Children's
Discovery Museum, Roger Williams Park
and Zoo, and the Ecotarium.
Programs for children
include Toddler Time for children
18 to 36 months which is held on the
second Tuesday of the month at 10:00am
and PJ Story Time for all ages which
is held on the third Friday of the
month at 7:00pm.
Special programs are
planned for other times throughout
the year.
Adults enjoy the Brown
Bag Lunch and Mystery Group which
meets on the first
Thursday of the month at 12:15. Coffee
and dessert are provided
