· The Young Adult area serves teens, 13 to 18 years old, and contains an extensive collection of young adult fiction. Well-known authors, including Robert Cormier, Gary Soto, Gary Paulsen, Lia Francesca Block, Ann Brashares, Christopher Paolini, Louise Rennison and Jacqueline Woodson are represented here. Paperback series and graphic novels are a popular part of the collection.

· In addition to fiction, the YA area also houses a collection of popular and informational nonfiction materials, including books devoted to the problems and issues faced by young adults in their daily lives. Reference materials devoted to the personal interests and academic needs of teens are a new addition to the young adult collection.

· Books suggested for summer reading by Worcester’s middle and high schools are incorporated into the young adult collections.

· Magazines of interest to teens such as Spin, Transworld Skateboarding, Seventeen, Teen Voice and Electronic Gaming Monthly are available for borrowing as well as for use in the library.
